Sierra Nevada Ski Resort; Perfect Skiing Conditions.
This southerly location means you are practically guaranteed sunshine and brilliant conditions for your skiing trip whilst affording you the deepest ski tan you are likely to get anywhere.Visitors to the Sierra Nevada Ski Resort are constantly amazed at the brilliant blue skies and sunny days in spite of which the snow lasts well and in fact, as it is one of Europe´s highest ski resorts, boasts a long season, traditionally opening at the end of November and running through to the end of April or even, in some years, into the first week of May. Facilities in this purpose built ski resort are of the highest standard and there is plenty of variety for all levels of skiers and snow boarders. It is well suited for complete novices whilst at the same time having plenty to challenge the more advanced visitor. The runs are admired by all, being of a good width and length and giving ample space for manoeuvring
The efficient lift system gives easy access to all parts of the mountain from the nursery slopesat Borreguiles where you will alsofind 3 restaurants for your statutory"Lumumba" or "Vino Caliente" stops! and onup to a fine selection of long blue and red runs. For advanced skiers there is plenty ofaction in the Veleta Peaks and LagunaValley areas.They are filled with challengingred runs plus a couple of black ones andsome of the Sierra Nevada´s off-piste terrain.From the top of the Zayas T-bar and the Laguna chairlift you can take in the stunning sea viewsand on clear days can even see as far as the Rif Mountains of Morocco. Snowboarders are also well catered for and the Sierra Nevada has become something of a Mecca for this sport. You can enjoy sweeping down the wide runs, or throwing yourselves about on the jumps and half-pipes of the snowboard park. You are sure to be impressed by the Sierra Nevada facilities and fresh snow will give you plenty of off-piste in which to practise your powder-riding. During the season both National and International Competitions are held regularly here.
Other facilties for all the family includethe Ice Rink & Mirlo Blanco Activity Zone.Here you will find, apart from the ice rink,toboggans, ski-bike, chair-bike, mini-ski, mini- snowboard and the latest addition of a roller- sled, ("Trineo Ruso"), which is a combined bobsled with rollercoaster ride. There are also créche and child care facilitiesfor children from 4 months of age thusleaving parents free to enjoy the skiing. As you would expect the Sierra Nevada Ski Resort is well supplied with shops, bars, restaurantsand equipment hire facilities to suit all pockets. The lovely central plaza has many pavement cafés in which to enjoy the exceptionalsunshine and relax after a day on the pistes.
