Recipe for Sangria.

Sun, sea and sangria are the three essential ingredients for a great holiday on the Costa del Sol. Well the first 2 go without saying and now you can make your holiday complete with this lovely Sangria recipe.
There are many variations on the theme but this is the recipe I was taught by an old Spanish bar tender many years ago when I first visited Spain.

Recipe for Sangria:-

2 bottles of medium priced red wine.

2 cups fresh orange juice.

Half litre of gaseosa, this is the unsweetened lemonade frequently used for mixing drinks in Spain.

Half a cup liquor 43. This is a Spanish liquor, but if you can't get it you can use brandy instead.

recipe for sangria

1 apple,cubed.

1 orange,sliced.

Juice of half a lemon and the slices from the other half.

Sprig of fresh mint.

Mix together all the ingredients in a large jug, then top up with ice cubes, stir well and chill for 1-2 hours before relaxing in the sun with a long cold glass of Sangria. !Salud!

Another refreshing summertime drink very popular in Spain is Tinto de Verano.

To make this pour half a tumbler of red wine, fill up with gaseosa, add a splash of lime, a twist of lemon and ice. Ħque aproveche!
