Holiday Rentals Gaucin,2 holiday apartments in Gaucin - Malaga – Spain Right in the heart of Gaucin, two charming apartments with fantastic views to Gibraltar, both of which have been recently renovated to a high standard. The apartments are situated at the rear of our house and are accessed through an independent arched doorway from the street. The street is the one of the widest in the town with ample roadside parking. Once through the archway you find a beautiful and secluded cobble-stone courtyard filled with grape vines, lemon trees, jasmine and many exotic plants giving a real Mediterranean ambiance.
‘La Casita’ This is a one-bedroom cottage-style apartment is located on the ground floor and is accessed from the courtyard via a covered ‘grotto’. Central to the cottage is the kitchen/lounge/dining area having fitted kitchen with gas hob, fridge, microwave oven and an open log fire. The bathroom has a large walk-in shower, hand basin and toilet. The bedroom has a Moroccan style double bed on a raised platform. Immediately outside the cottage is a seating area where you can enjoy your meals el fresco. El ‘Piso Alto’ From the ‘grotto’, stairs lead to a first floor entrance into a bright and airy open-plan living room, dining and kitchen area. The fitted kitchen is equipped to a high standard with gas hob, fridge and microwave oven. The lounge area has a wood burning stove and satellite TV. Double doors lead to a twin bedded room, from this bedroom French doors open onto a sun filled balcony with outdoor furniture. Stairs from the living room lead to a second twin bedded room and two terraces that have views to die for. The terraces are ideal for sunbathing or for relaxation with a glass of wine after a day of exploration.
A second stairway leads to the roof terrace having a 360 degree panoramic view of the whole village and outlying countryside.The terraces are equipped with outdoor furniture, barbeque and sun-loungers. Everything you need to relax and enjoy the scenery and wonderful sunsets. Gaucin Gaucin is perhaps the most beautiful of Andalusia’s Pueblos Blancos, or White Villages, surrounded by picturesque and varied scenery studded with olive, oak, carob and chestnut trees. Perched 630 metres (2,000 feet) up on a mountain balcony against the backdrop of the Serrania de Ronda mountain range, and window to the famous town of Ronda. From the spacious terraces (3) there is a terrific view down the Genal River Valley to the Mediterranean coast, Gibraltar and the Rif mountains of Morocco. Here, in this unspoilt country village of only 2,000 inhabitants, there is a small but well established international community ensuring that all year round there is a lively and varied range of tapas bars, cafes (including an internet cafe), restaurants (mainly April to October) and other essential services (ATM, pharmacy, post office, market, shops, supermarkets, taxis, public swimming pool in summer etc). There is also a railway station, on the scenic line from Algeciras to Ronda and beyond, just a 10 minute drive from Gaucin. The wide open Atlantic beaches of the magnificent Costa de la Luz and the Donana Wetlands bird sanctuary are to be found further to the west. Bird-watching Bob Buckler, the owner of the apartments lives in Gaucin for most of the year, he is an experienced birder with over 30 years of field study under his belt and over 17 years tour guide experience. He has travelled extensively in Spain, France, Morocco, Portugal and Greece and made birding trips to parts of the USA, Canada, Israel, Egypt and the Balearic Islands. Bob offers day trips and week-long tours to many parts of Spain and Morocco, he leads with a casual approach to bird-watching and guides with an easy going, friendly nature. You are not lectured to or confused with too much “expert” knowledge, the trips are good humoured and beginners are most welcomed. Day tours cost €50 per person (minimum 2) and include a picnic lunch.
