Travel Insurance.

Travel Insurance, whilst we all hope it will not be necessary to have it, for the small amount of financial outlay and the large amount of peace of mind that

it buys, we do advise all our customers to take out an adequate Travel Insurance policy.

After all it not only covers you against the possibility of astronomical medical costs,the cost of re-patriation in the event of illness or death, but the right travel insurance cover will also provide for such eventualities as legal expenses,loss of money, passport, baggage etc.cancellation and curtailment and personal liability.

Be sure to also choose the right cover for any special activities you intend to undertake whilst on holiday so that you and your equipment are covered whilst participating. For example, sailing, skiing, scuba diving etc.

Another aspect of holiday travel insurance to consider is whether you wish to take out a single trip policy or an annual one. The latter will save you lot of money if you intend to go abroad a few times a year and is certainly worth considering.

FORM E111.Even if you are taking out travel insurance it is still advisable to complete a form E111, or European Health Card as it is now called, and bring it with you.It provides for emergency treatment in cases of illness or accident. Here on the Costa del Sol we are very fortunate to have an excellent accident and emergency department at the Costa del Sol Hospital near Marbella where you will receive the same treatment as Spanish nationals ( with the assistance of an interpreter if needs be).The E111 won´t cover you for any subsequent treatment though or repatriation etc.which is where your own personal travel insurance comes in, but it can be very useful in the unfortunate event of an accident or sudden illness which requires no follow up treatment as it will save you having to make a claim when you get home.

There are of course many travel insurance companies on the "net" to pick from so to try and make life a bit simpler I have been doing some research and have picked out three in particular which I think are worth looking at, depending on your circumstances.For travellers from the U.K Goto Travel Insurance are hard to beat,that is, if you just want single trip insurance, their multi trip cover is quite expensive. The cover includes personal effects, cash, missed and delayed departure as well as all the health cover you would expect.

Essential Travel - discount online travel insurance specialists have a similar policy to the above but they beat them hands down on multi trip rates. They too are U.K. customers only.
